History

Portland Bible College is located in the scenic Pacific Northwest in the beautiful city of Portland, Oregon.  The college is an educational ministry of City Bible Church (formerly Bible Temple) where students are connected to excellent biblical teaching and worship, where they experience personal growth and have opportunities for Christian service.

In the fall of 1967 twelve young adults stood in Pastor Dick Iverson’s office, asking that he train them in their own church. Thus, Portland Bible College began its long and successful journey with a handful of students, men and women who understood that seasoned church leaders administrate the best church leadership training.

One of the great tributes to the vision is the way the school has touched the nations. Since the late 1960’s scores of international students, along with many from the US and Canada, have worshiped and studied at PBC. The background and cultural diversity, alone, is one of the unique educational features of the college.

It is clear that PBC has a distinguished past, a challenging present and an exciting future. The need for future world leaders remains the hope of the church and the world. We are determined to honor our heritage of the past and accept our responsibility to the future.
